Aggie Women Mission

Aggie Women – formally recognized as the Women Former Students’ Network – seeks to enhance the excellence of Texas A&M University by promoting the active engagement of women in the educational, charitable, and cultural life of the institution. To accomplish this, Aggie Women strives to increase engagement of women former students in academic, research and service activities through their expanded role as mentors of current women students and future generations of women students in addition to increased philanthropic ties to the university and The Association of Former Students. In the representation of its membership and in all its activities, Aggie Women strive to value and promote inclusiveness and diversity.

A Message from the President

Howdy Aggies! What an honor it is to be selected to serve as president for Aggie Women.  The women of Aggieland are amazing, talented and dedicated; not only to Texas A&M University, but to serving each other and their communities as well.  Our incoming Board and officers are excited to take our organization into new areas in 2018 and establish a growing foundation of excellence for years to come.

As Aggie Women, we have a history with Texas A&M University, but also a desire to connect with other Aggie Women, mentor students, honor our alumni and faculty and maintain a prestigious position in the Aggie community.  This year we plan to continue our mission and focus on leveraging relationships with other constituent networks and partner organizations to build our constituency inside and outside College Station to bring the most benefit to Aggie Women.

Aggie Women focus on helping make connections, giving back to Texas A&M University and honoring students, former students and faculty for their leadership, scholarship and lasting contributions to society.  To our current members, I say thank you for your investment in making our organization great.  Your continued support is critical to our success and allows us to continue our mission-focused programs.  If you are not yet a member, please take a moment to join and help us provide additional resources to deliver on our mission.  Whether you can offer your time, personal gifts or resources, your contributions are appreciated.  We have other ways to be involved as well, such as Aggie Women partnering with student organizations through our JumpStart mentoring program, Aggie Experts sharing expertise with students in the classroom or with other Aggie women and First Thursday events featuring guest speakers and held monthly at the Messina Hof Winery in Bryan/College Station.

Aggie Women have been celebrated in Spirit Magazine (One Voice – Not just our father’s University), Texas Aggie Magazine and Texas Monthly (Like a Boss) for their contributions in science, business, finance, coaching and architecture.  With so many outstanding Aggie Women, we want to be able to continue to celebrate them with Legacy Awards and as Distinguished Alumni.  We will host a dedicated event later in 2018 to honor Aggie Women.

Giving back to the University is core to our mission.  Through generous donations and fundraising, we currently sponsor two endowed Presidential Scholarships. These scholarships provide the resources for two deserving students to help them reach their full potential while studying at Texas A&M University. This would not be sustainable without the support of our extended community.

We welcome all who are a part of the Texas A&M University family.  If you are interested in sharing your time, talent or treasure, please contact us at Info@AggieWomen.org.  Better yet, join and become an active member, Board member, Aggie Expert or serve on one of our mission-focused committees.

Thank you for being an active member of our Aggie Women community. You are vital to our success and our ability to continue our programs.  Our shared mission and goals will help us create a foundation for success for generations to come.  Together we can make a change in how we see the world and how the world views Aggie Women.  Thank you for sharing your talents with us and I look forward to our continued successes in 2018!

Gig’em,

Marcy Newman, Class of ’80
