The Aggie Women Network has released an annual commemorative wine label in partnership with the Messina Hof Wineries, a business founded by an Aggie Woman, since 2016. Each year we release a red blend and a white blend, and the proceeds benefit the Aggie Women Network’s programs and operating costs.

“United in Tradition, Honoring the Journey”
Shirley Marquardt-Tynan ’84
Shirley Marquardt-Tynan (née Dow), Class of ’84, is a proud Texas A&M University graduate who walked the stage in ’85 after taking additional semesters through the cooperative education program. She earned her BS in Chemical Engineering and dedicated 35 fulfilling years to Emerson, serving in various engineering and leadership roles. Now retired, she divides her time between Colorado and Florida, fully embracing her creative spirit through painting, photography, travel, and chasing rainbows.
Her artwork, United in Tradition, Honoring the Journey, is a tribute to the enduring bonds and traditions that connect Aggie Women across generations. Inspired by the bold, energetic style of Keith Haring, she uses vivid colors, simplified forms, and strong outlines to tell a visual story of friendship, mentorship, and achievement. Each figure in the artwork represents moments of support and celebration—reaching back to lift one another up, grounded in shared history, and moving boldly toward the future. The composition weaves together symbolic elements that reflect the diverse influences shaping this journey. Texas Bluebonnets evoke early life and the renewal of a second Spring; architectural motifs represent the urban and corporate paths many have followed. A cow and a goat pay homage to agricultural roots, while the stylized figures celebrate both the shared and individual experiences that connect women through Aggieland and beyond.
The AWN is inviting all Aggie Women to showcase their artistic talent by entering the 2025 Aggie Women Network Wine Label Artist Competition. The winning artwork will be featured on the 2025 Aggie Women Wine Label, sold through our partners at Messina Hof Winery. The winner’s original artwork will also be featured as a silent auction item at the AWN Women’s Leadership Reception.

Marlene Morales Tollett, MD ’22, created her artwork to represent the theme of selfless service.
Art has always been a passion for her. However, as a physician, wife, mother, and friend, her spare time can be limited. This submission provided an opportunity to reconnect with her passion, engage in a meaningful project, and give back through her talents.
